The Toronto Islands are just off the main business district of Toronto. They are a great destination for both local residents and visitors to the city.
– A very exclusive residential neighbourhood down close to the waterfront in an old part of Toronto.
– Some shots of the marina in a park on the waterfront, called The Bluffs.
– The step eroded hillside is what we call the “bluffs.”
– Some shots of sailboats out on Lake Ontario taken from the same park.
– I’m from the prairies, so this view is just great for me.
– On a ferry from downtown Toronto to the Islands, which lie just a short distance off-shore.
– The CN Tower dominates the Toronto skyline. It has held the record for years as the tallest free-standing structure in the world.
– To the left of the CN Tower is the Rogers Centre (Sky Dome). As a stadium it is used for baseball, football and many other events.
– Approaching the Islands.
– Gardens and walking paths on Centre Island.
– Gardens are not in good shape this spring. It has been too cold, here, in Toronto.
– Views of waterways that separate the islands and provide mooring sites for privately owned sailing craft.
– But this larger boat may not be privately owned.
– As it passed, we recognized a bride in white on the upper deck. It is a wedding party.
– Just one of the families, with their yacht, preparing a meal on-shore.
– Young people, maybe children of the owner and friends.
– As it clouded up, we made our way back to the ferry for our return home.
– I don’t know the type of tree, but the blossoms where fascinating.
Rainbows are always a delight. Hmmm… Was I “distracted” by it?
– We chose to stop here for something to eat…
– … and couldn’t resist one more attempt to capture the rainbow.
